PGL Astana Day 2 Full Recap

The second day of PGL Astana 2025 has concluded, bringing some incredible games and plays once again. This article will run you through a summary of all games with highlighted stats and map scores.

The MongolZ vs MIBR:

The MongolZ were able to take down MIBR easily 2:0 in the series. MIBR were only able to get a total of 11 rounds in both games against the Mongolian side. On map two, Techno was able to carry his team to victory boasting an incredible 24-8 K/D! Only one member of the MIBR squad was able to break over a 1.00 rating against The MongolZ. This means The MongolZ go 2-0 in the Swiss stage with MIBR going 1-1.

Virtus.Pro vs M80:

Virtus.Pro eventually beat M80 2:1 in Astana, after losing their first map against the NA side. On the second map, Virtus.Pro left the bomb alone while planted, allowing M80 to ninja defuse the bomb bringing them an extra round and money into the next 2 rounds ahead. After this, Virtus.Pro closed the game out taking them to map 3 where M80 put up a great fight against the side of VP but were unable to take them down. Lake was able to frag his team to victory going 22-13, with his teammates not far behind him. fame on map 2, was able to step up and go 24-10, leading his team to a victory on map 2, giving them confidence to close it out on map 3! This means Virtus.Pro go 1-1 and M80 are 0-2 in the Swiss stage.

Astralis vs paIN:

New Astralis, with the introduction of IGL hooxi, were able to stomp paIN 2:0 in the series after having a rough start to the year. With the introduction of hooxi the side look to be playing much better Counter-Strike. This takes Astralis 2-0 in the Swiss stage and sends paIN to 1-1.

In map 1, the full side of Astralis were able to post great ratings on the scoreboard with the lowest being IGL hooxi with a 1.30 rating and series MVP stavn with a 1.67 rating.

On map 2, stavn was able to thrust his team to victory, fragging his heart out. He dropped a crazy game going 25-11!

Na’Vi vs BIG:

Na’Vi easily took down BIG 2:0 in the series. This is another easy 2:0 win for the international squad that are looking very strong this tournament. A lot of people have doubts about the Na’Vi squad; but they are starting to show why they are together in a roster. BIG was able to put up a good fight however, taking them far into the maps but just not being able to do enough to close out. This means Na’Vi go 2-0 in the Swiss stage with BIG going 1-1.

GamerLegion vs FURIA:

FURIA were able to best GamerLegion 2:1 in the series. After a very close 3rd map, the debut tournament squad of FURIA, were able to close out the series and continue their run in Astana. After FalleN going 7-14 on Mirage leading to their loss of that map, himself and yuurih were able to clutch up and frag their organisation through to the series win with a 22-13 and 24-12 K/D respectively. New introduction of molody, shows why FURIA picked him up, getting crucial impact kills and holding the fort of ramp on the last map of Nuke. This means FURIA go 1-1 in the Swiss stage with GamerLegion going 0-2.

Team Spirit vs Ninjas in Pyjamas:

Team Spirit were able to dominate NIP beating them 2:0 in the series making them go 2-0 in the Swiss stage and sending NIP to 1-1 in the stage. The fact that NIP were able to take such a great team to overtime on Train is impressive and they should be proud of such an endeavour; however, they completely lost their heads on Dust2. NIP lost 13-4 on that map, leading to their loss in the series. Spirit actually won a 2v5 on the last round of Train to close out the map. On map 2, donk played incredible. Boasting a K/D of 27-10 and a 2.31 rating, leading his team through the series to victory!

Aurora vs HOTU:

Aurora finally won their series against HOTU. Coming to this series as the favourites, they were pushed to their limits with HOTU taking them to all 3 maps and almost clinching overtime on the Nuke, just missing out with a crazy clutch play from woxic to end the game. On Anubis, which is arguably Auroras best map and best team on Anubis, they were beat by HOTU on it. Even on Nuke they were able to keep the game within a coupe rounds the full match and even lead against the side of Aurora. From their performance yesterday to today, they have made a great improvement on their Counter-Strike. On Anubis, HOTU put up numbers on the scoreboard to acquire the win.

G2 Esports vs ODDIK:

With their coach as a stand-in, G2 are now going 0-2 in the groups after their defeat to ODDIK. ODDIK are now 1-1 in the group stage and have played good Counter-Strike against a good team. After G2’s struggle on Anubis, they annihilated ODDIK on Dust2, beating them 13-3! ODDIK however, regained momentum and kept an extremely close game on Nuke, keeping a couple rounds difference between the score at any one time. Even with a stand-in, ODDIK should still be happy with their series win over G2 Esports.
