The biggest and most anticipated Major and event of the year has changed format to better determine final playoff teams.

ESL have revealed that there will be a significant change to the format of their Major being held in Cologne, Germany. For the first time ever, ALL matches in Stage 3 of a Major will now be played as a best-of-three series.

This is the first time ever that a Stage 3 of a Major will be held in such a fashion. This has been on the cards for years, with many teams and fans expressing how the BO1’s played at Stage 3 were not competitively integrative to the VRS and were unfair. They are unfair due to BO1’s not being able to competitively determine the better team for further progression at such a integral part of a Major.

Many teams have come forward on X, stating their contentment to the decision (i.e. HEROIC, Vitality, Falcons, FURIA and Spirit).
