The final stage before playoffs has started today, bringing some incredible best of ones and some unexpected upsets. This stage sets the precedent for who will not and who will be heading to the playoffs in the Moody Centre in Austin Texas. With day 1 concluding, we have a rundown of all best of ones and their results below.

Vitality vs Legacy

The first game of the day was between Stage 1 running Legacy and 30 win streak Vitality. In a crazy turn of events, Legacy actually bested Vitality ending their 30 series win streak and sending them to the 0-1 bracket in their first game of the Major! Vitality have not lost a series since January and losing to such a ‘small’ team was not on anyone’s bingo card for such a matchup. Legacy head into their next game 1-0.

MOUZ vs Virtus.pro

The second matchup of the day was between MOUZ and Virtus.pro. Another game where, the better team was bested by the ‘weaker’ opponent. MOUZ were seen highly as the favourites in this matchup from previous tournaments but Virtus.pro kept their cool and beat them 13-11, sending themselves 1-0 and MOUZ 0-1.

Spirit vs paiN

Spirit took on the side of paiN. Spirit have not been on the server since their trophy lift at PGL Astana however, they were expected to come in and win this matchup as they do have ‘donk’. Spirit demolished the Brazilian side 13-3 sending them to the 0-1 bracket and taking them to 1-0 into their next match.

3DMAX vs G2

The French team 3DMAX took on G2 in their opening game of the day. 3DMAX have come through all stages looking incredibly well organised and coordinated. The side of G2 the last couple of months however, have struggled to put maps on the board. 3DMAX were able to beat the side of G2, on one of G2’s better maps, 13-5 sending them to the 0-1 bracket and taking 3DMAX 1-0 into their next game of the day.

Aurora vs FaZe

The previous roster of Eternal Fire, Aurora, took on the side of FaZe. Aurora are a power drive of the Turkish scene and showed that here in this best of one. They were able to beat the side of FaZe with legend player s1mple 13-5. This sends FaZe to the 0-1 bracket and Aurora moves to the 1-0 bracket.

The MongolZ vs FURIA

The Mongolians took on the Brazilian organisation in a best of one. In a very close matchup, FURIA were able to clutch up and clinch the win 13-11 to move to the 1-0 bracket, leaving The MongolZ down in the 0-1.

Na’Vi vs Nemiga

Na’Vi played Nemiga in their first match of the day. Nemiga have looked very strong in the last two stages of the Major. Unfortunatlry for the Russian side they were beat by Na’Vi 13-7. This means Na’Vi move through to the 1-0 bracket and Nemiga to the 0-1.

Liquid vs Lynn Vision

Liquid, with their relively still new lineup featuring siuhy, took on the impressive Chinese team Lynn Vision. Lynn Vision proved once again why Asia should be awarded an extra slot at the Major, destroying Liquid 13-5 on a strong Liquid Dust2. Lynn Vision are now 1-0, leaving Liquid in the 0-1 bracket.

Aurora vs FURIA

In their second game of the day, both Aurora and FURIA faced off to see who would progress with another win or loss under their belt. In a very close rounded game, FURIA were able to play the game out and win over the Turkish side 13-7. This takes FURIA to the 2-0 bracket and Aurora now are 1-1.

Virtus.pro vs Legacy

Virus.pro and Legacy were next to play each other in their second match of the day. After absolutely destroying the best team in the world, Legacy could not keep their composure. They lost to the side of Virtus.pro. However, Legacy put up a great fight with the score line being 13-11 in favour of VP. Legacy now go 1-1 and Virtus.pro are in the 2-0 bracket.

Spirit vs Lynn Vision

Spirit vs Lynn Vision was the second game for both teams. Lynn Vision took off to a great start winning pistol and the 2nd round easily. It took a while for Spirit to wake up. When donk finally had joined the server, there was no stopping the Spirit side as they beat Lynn Vision 13-7. Lynn Vision now move to the 1-1 bracket and Spirit head on up to the 2-0 bracket.

3DMAX vs Na’Vi

3DMAX took on Na’Vi in the 1-0 bracket. 3DMAX were able to bring the score to 12-8, basically securing their victory. However, they struggled to clinch that last round. Na’Vi were able to bring it back to overtime and best the French side. What a blow to the side of 3DMAX who now head to the 1-1 bracket, leaving Na’Vi to face off in the 2-0 bracket.

MOUZ vs FaZe

After both of their losses in the first round, MOUZ took on FaZe. MOUZ were the favourites to win this series, after making many finals recently and with FaZe having a stand-in, albeit being s1mple. FaZe, were able to best MOUZ in the best of one, 13-10 and progress to the 1-1 bracket and send MOUZ to the brink of elimination in the 0-2 bracket.

Vitality vs Nemiga

After their shocking loss to Legacy, Vitality played Nemiga in the 0-1 bracket. Vitality looked back in form, defeating the Russian side 13-6 and taking them to the 1-1 bracket. This however leaves Nemiga fighting in the 0-2 bracket on the verge of elimination.

The MongolZ vs Liquid

The MongolZ and Liquid faced it off after they both lost their opening games. The MongolZ were able to defeat Liquid propelling themselves to safety for now in the 1-1 bracket and leaving Liquid in fear as they need to battle it out to avoid elimination in the 0-2 bracket.

G2 vs paiN

G2 and paiN were the last teams to prove who should be staying in the Major. They both again lost their opening games. G2 were able to best a shaky paiN who are now on the line for elimination after moving to the 0-2 bracket after this loss. G2, live another day as they move to the 1-1 bracket.
