The comeback begins

On November 10th 2025, 100 Thieves officially announced their return to competitive Counter-Strike in partnership with sponsor Roobet. The new iteration of 100T comes after more than five years away from the Counter-Strike scene itself. The announcement noted that the team will compete under the name “100 Thieves Roobet” and that the partnership will fund a permanent European home, signalling a global shift in focus. This also suggests that the core of the team will be that of EU to focus around rumoured star rifler rain.

A brief history in Counter-Strike

100 Thieves’ involvement in Counter-Strike has had two previous chapters:

  • The first attempt came in late 2017 when they signed a Brazilian roster formerly of Immortals (including players like LUCAS1, HEN1 & kNgV-). This line-up was disbanded very early on in their infancy (by January 2018) due to roster complications and visa issues.
  • The second iteration began in 2019, when 100 Thieves acquired the roster of Renegades (Australian Roster) in November. This version achieved notable success, including a runner-up placing at IEM Beijing 2019. However, by October 12, 2020 the organization announced it would no longer field a CS:GO (Counter-Strike) roster, citing travel, regional issues and the evolving scene as factors to this decision.

While the team did not capture a major championship under the 100 Thieves banner, they did post strong results and were a very performative team on and off the server.

What to expect this time around

With the return, 100 Thieves are aiming for a full-rebuild rather than a short stint in the CS world. Their 2025 announcement emphasised building “the right way” with a European base and multi-year backing from Roobet. As of now, the only confirmed piece of the line-up is veteran Norwegian rifler Håvard “rain” Nygaard, formerly of FaZe Clan. (According to Danish site Dust2.dk, 100 Thieves and rain have already signed a contract). Rumours also suggest that 100 Thieves are interested in targeting several players from GamerLegion to form the core around rain. Officially however, the full roster has not yet been revealed and further announcements are expected in the coming months.

Conclusion

100 Thieves are back in Counter-Strike — this time aiming for CS2 with a European focus, veteran leadership in rain, and strong financial backing. Their previous forays were promising but short-lived; now the question becomes whether this is the one that sticks and competes at the top. The organisation has a lot of catching up to do to show that they deserve to be competing at the top once again.
